Once more this year, this iconic Japanese manufacturer’s compact model appears on the list of Mazda vehicles. Learn more about the Mazda3 with your Baie-Comeau dealership.
Whether it’s about the engine, the cabin, the reviews or even the prices at which it’s available, the 2023 Mazda3 has no secrets for us.
Under the Hood of the 2023 Mazda3
In 2023, the Mazda3 offers two engines across all its trims. It’s important to note, however, that even its base engine is more powerful than the base engine of last year’s Mazda3. Indeed, Mazda’s 2.0 L 4-cylinder engine has received a few upgrades since its appearance in last year’s model.
Let’s compare both available engines and the versions in which they are found:
2.0 L 4-cylinder engine
(Mazda3 GX & GS FWD)
2.5 L 4-cylinder engine
155 hp @ 6000 rpm
191 hp @ 6000 rpm
186 lb ft @ 4000 rpm
In terms of fuel economy, we’re looking at 8.4 L/100 km for the 2.0 L engine and 8.6 L/100 km for the 2.5 L one. Both numbers are based on the fuel consumption within a city setting.
For a considerable increase in power, the 2.5 L engine’s fuel economy is worse by only 2%.
At the transmission level, the Mazda3 comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission. While the GX is only available with forward drive, both other versions (Mazda3 GS and Mazda3 GT) are available with all-wheel drive.
As is usual for the Mazda3, each version is available as a sedan under the simple Mazda3 name, or as a Mazda3 hatchback, under the Mazda3 Sport branding. In terms of performance, both the sedan and the hatchback are identical.
A Glimpse of the Mazda3’s Interior
Like every year, one of the Mazda3’s selling point is the quietness of its cabin. Indeed, the Japanese manufacturer claims that the 2023 model of the Mazda3 provides:
“Our quietest cabin yet.”
Even though tranquillity is obviously the emphasis here, it isn’t the only thing you can find inside the Mazda3’s cabin.
Available for purchase with every Mazda3 are a few components, including:
- Illuminated scuff plates
- A wireless charging station for cellphones
- A frameless auto-dimming rear-view mirror, etc.
With a long list of accessories, the Mazda3 experience can be customized to better suit your needs. This idea is reinforced by the choice between hatchback and sedan that is characteristic of the Mazda3 model.
If you fold down the back seat, the cargo capacity is 940 L for the sedan. For the Mazda 3 hatchback, we’re looking at a volume of 1,334 L.
What the Mazda3 Reviews Are Saying
The Mazda3 is a vehicle that has proven itself over the years. In terms of security, it was awarded the Top Safety Pick+ grade by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the highest possible grade.
On our side of the border, The Car Guide, in its review of the 2023 model, has praised the driving experience offered by this vehicle.
What is the best Mazda car? Depending on your needs, the glowing Mazda3 reviews might indicate that this model is the answer to that question.
